A Story Of A Moose

After years of hoping and seeking for a moose, in June of 2023…I saw 3. The first 2 were in Maine and the third was in New Hampshire. I didn’t get the photographs that I wanted, however, I’m honestly just glad that I’ve finally seen a moose.

In 2022, I purchased a stuffed animal moose from the Flume Gorge gift shop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The little guy sat on the dinette table in the RV right next to me as I worked on a daily basis. Sadly, the moose was snagged by the younger of my two dogs and ripped apart after a couple months of safety. I was pretty upset, but in the end, all Miles saw was a stuffed animal, not to dissimilar from a couple that he has or has had in the past (also moose stuffed animals).

I loved the little stuffed moose, it was made very well. One day, I got the urge to use the little guy as inspiration for a new graphic illustration to put on products and sell them on my online store. The graphic still lives and products are still available featuring the design.

So, this year, Bailey and I drove to the summit of Mt. Washington and found a stuffed moose that actually looks very realistic, especially in comparison to most stuffed animals. The moose that I bought last year, I named Manchester or Manny for short. This time, we needed a new name and wanted it to relate to the White Mountains. Originally, our minds went to Mt Washington since that was a highlight experience for us and the summit is where we bought it, but the name wasn’t appealing. Then we began to think about our favorite New Hampshire towns that are nearby, Conway and Gorham, but again it didn’t feel right. Well, then it hit me, what was the town name where we saw the real moose? Well turns out, that was perfect for the name…so let me introduce you now to Bartlett.
