Traveling to Des Moines in June of 2018

My first real trip to Des Moines, IA was just to get a chance to explore the metropolitan. I had been through Des Moines a few times, but never actually took the time to explore the city.

Travel Day and Exploring Downtown

Friday, June 15, was a travel day. Des Moines is only a 2-hour drive from Omaha all interstate the entire drive. The goal of this day was to see what downtown had to offer. We walked the area for a while taking a few pictures and then we found a place to eat.

Museums and Lake Adventures

Saturday, June 16. The Airbnb that we were staying at was in an excellent location for access to downtown. Bailey and I enjoy getting to go to museums in new cities. This time we visited the State Historical Museum of Iowa. After the museum, we ate at Blaze Pizza and then took a trip to Merle Hay Mall. To end our day, we unwound at Gray’s Lake that was on our way back to our Airbnb from downtown.

Watching Planes and Heading Home

Ever since taking Bailey to her first Airshow in May of 2016, her and I have shared a love of watching planes land and take off. On our way out of town we stopped at a HyVee to fill with gas. While we were filling up a plane that we thought was flying super low was coming in for a landing just across the street. It was super amazing because the plane just appeared right above the HyVee store.
