Being from the midwest, Maine was very rarely mentioned growing up. In Nebraska—where I’m from—our outdoor and travel focus was sort of tunnel visioned towards the west, especially Colorado. It wasn’t until I became a fan of Stephen King’s novels that I began to pay a little more attention to Maine.
In May of 2022, I moved into a travel trailer RV and this was when I realized I now had a true opportunity to not visit Maine but spend some time in the state and get a true sense of what it had to offer. The travel route and plan for 2022 was pretty much planned around getting to Maine and then working our way back to Nebraska for the holidays.
It was August of 2022 that I finally first stepped foot in Maine and right away I could tell that this state was something special. For three weeks, I would be calling Ellsworth, Maine home which was only 45 minutes or so from the town that so inspired many of Stephen King’s stories of Bangor, Maine. While I must admit, I didn’t get to explore Bangor much, it was because of how many other exploration and adventure the state offered.
In June of 2023, I returned to Maine once again, this time it was along the southern coast and for just two weeks instead of three. During this visit, I would accomplish something I have been hoping to for many years now in seeing my first moose in person. I was able to see what life in southern Maine—like Portland, Ogunquit, and York—was like.
This page of my website is dedicated to my experiences, adventures, and story that relate or involve what I would have to say is one of my top two, maybe three states in the United States. Here you will find my photography, videos, blog posts, designs, products, and more that are either inspired by Maine or took place in Maine.
